Montana experienced another week of above average temperatures and minimal rainfall, according
to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA
This week brought trace amounts of moisture and unseasonably warm temperatures to Montana, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.
Between the September 30th report and the August 12th report Montana has realized a 13% reduction in reported production.
All wheat production totaled 1.65 billion bushels in 2022, up less than 1 percent from the 2021 total of 1.65 billion
bushels. Area harvested for grain totaled 35.5 million acres, down 4 percent from the previous year.
As harvest comes to an end and growers shift their attention to fall planting, I think we owe it to ourselves to take a deep breath and reflect on this past growing season
The 2022 Wheat and Barley Variety Survey reports are now available. Funded by the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee (MWBC), these reports were conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Mountain Regional Office.
