For Eastern Montana producers’ durum is their lucrative savings account. If you don’t like the price, just wait a month. Being a flat priced commodity, it can be subject to larger price swings. Many producers are sitting on full bins of durum scratching their heads, waiting, and hoping for some motivation to plant more next spring. Current bids according to NASS are around $9.50/BU, HRS sept 23 futures are at $9.34/BU Seen Here: POS Grain Report – Region. Durum prices have been relatively stable through harvest, 2022 exports have been slow. When they pick up, the market will have to motivate durum producers (Not financial advice).
